Yi Huang is a young choreographer with plenty of potential who skilfully combines multi-level images with subtle body movements. World famous choreographer and dancer Lin Hwai-min called him "awesome". In 2010, Yi's work Whisper was named runner-up in the Denmark International Choreography Competition. A year later, he was recognised as one of the 25 to Watch by Dance Magazine in the US. In 2013, his work Huang Yi & KUKA was chosen by Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria as the finale performance, making Yi the first artist in Taiwan to be given a major performance at the festival. Later, the work was selected as one of the Annual Top 10 Most Intriguing Performing Art Works at the festival of ISPA (International Society for the Performing Arts) in 2015. In 2014, Yi was invited by the National Theater & Concert Hall to be its first resident artist. When asked for his tips for success, Yi says he asks himself “do I want to devote myself to this matter and this work and work with this person all my life?” If the answer is yes, he says he will put it into practice.
