Sukki Singapora

Sukki Singapora

Burlesque artist
Location: Singapore

It took four years of campaigning for Sukki Singapora to become the first person to perform a full, legal burlesque act in Singapore at the start of 2015. Her career as a burlesque artist has since become as colourful as her hair—the outspoken artist has gone on to perform at the after-parties of the London Fashion Week and the Singapore Grand Prix, and was even invited to tea with the Queen at Buckingham Palace. “Burlesque is too often seen as an illicit, male-placating and overtly sexual activity,” stresses Sukki. “In reality, it's a beautiful art form that embraces female sensuality and body confidence.” She also uses her talent as a platform to voice her thoughts on social issues. She has also been the global ambassador for UK-based charity, The Sharan Project, which provides support, advice and a forum for vulnerable women who have left home voluntarily or involuntarily.
