Founder, Experimenta and Pineapple Underground Film Festival
Cinematically gifted, Gina Wong dabbled in finance and entrepreneurial ventures before taking a leap into the film industry and establishing the Pineapple Underground Film Festival, also known as PUFF. Now in its seventh year, PUFF’s mission is to lessen the cultural divide vis-a-vis world cinema. It is the only independently funded indie film festival in Hong Kong -- featuring as many as 73 films from around the globe. She also created and runs Experimenta, a performance art space launched in 2009.
An established filmmaker in her own right, Gina made her directorial debut in 2008 in Shanghai and has since directed and produced 8 more films, spanning locations from Bosnia, Italy, to Chile and the US. She’s taken part in global festivals including London’s Raindance Film Festival, the Miami Film Festival, and SXSW in the US. Most recently, Gina presented three new 360° films at the VR Salon hosted at Hong Kong University, in collaboration with imseDOME, an affordable VR system.
