Speeding into the fast lane, Gentle Bones (whose real name is Joel Tan) paved his path for international fame when he became first Singaporean to win the Super Nova Award at the Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival in 2016. That was just one of many firsts for Gentle Bones: In 2015, he became the first Singaporean to sign onto Universal Music Singapore and was named first on Forbes’ inaugural 30 Under 30 list for entertainment and sports personalities in Asia. His second album, Geniuses & Thieves,’ hit the top of the iTunes chart on its release date and subsequently he held two sold-out concerts at the Esplanade Concert Hall. Since then, he has only continued to further his musical creativity by recently teaming up with fellow homegrown musician Myrne (real name Manfred Lim) to release a collaborative album: 4NGER PROJECT, an eclectic collection of futuristic, forward-looking pop that balances soulful hooks.
