Ingredients

300g pasta (penne, fusilli or other pasta of your choice)

1 bunch of broccoli, cut into florets

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves of garlic, chopped

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Juice of half a lemon (optional)

1/4 cup toasted walnuts or almonds (optional)

1/2 cup heavy cream (optional for a creamier version)
Preparation mode
- In a large pot of boiling, salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions. When it is al dente, drain and set aside.
- While the pasta is cooking, in another pan of boiling salted water, cook the broccoli florets for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender but still firm. Drain and reserve.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic and sauté until lightly browned.
- Add the broccoli to the pan and mix well, sautéing for another 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the broccoli and garlic. Mix well so that the pasta is well coated with the olive oil and garlic.
- If you want a creamier version, add the cream and mix well, heating until it is well incorporated.
- Remove from the heat and add the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing well.
- Squeeze the lemon juice over the pasta, if using, and toss again.
- For an extra touch, add toasted walnuts or almonds on top before serving.
- Serve immediately, with more grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
