This Outback onion will look very similar to the one from the famous restaurant. Check out the ingredients needed to prepare it. It’s delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion

  • 1 and 1/2 cups of wheat flour

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, if you like it spicy)

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 ovo

  • 1 cup of milk

  • Oil for frying

Preparation mode

  • Peel the onion, but leave the root intact. Cut the onion into slices, but not all the way through, so that it maintains the shape of a “flower.”
  • In a medium bowl, combine the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg and mix in the milk.
  • Coat the onion in the flour mixture, making sure all the slices are coated.
  • Dip the onion into the egg and milk mixture, ensuring it is completely coated.
  • Dip again in the flour mixture, coating well.
  • In a deep saucepan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 180°C.
  • Carefully place the onion in the pan, cut side up.
  • Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with your favorite sauce, such as barbecue sauce or ranch dressing.
