Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT), International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s container terminal in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, Philippines, recently received the inaugural call for SITC’s new China-Philippines Express 7 (CXP7) service.
The new service caters to the growing export volume of fresh produce from Bukidnon, such as pineapple and banana, by providing Mindanao exporters with a reliable and efficient transportation solution. This initiative is designed to improve connectivity with markets in China, facilitating access for Philippine products to one of the largest markets in the world. With a focus on speed and safety, the transportation service promises to reduce delivery times and minimize the risk of spoilage of fresh produce during transit, which is crucial to maintaining quality and competitiveness in the international market.
Furthermore, this new transportation solution represents a significant opportunity for Bukidnon farmers and exporters, allowing them to expand their operations and increase their income. By providing a direct and efficient link to China, the service not only improves export logistics but also strengthens trade relations between the Philippines and China. This enhanced connectivity is critical to meeting the growing demand for tropical fruits in the Chinese market, ensuring that Bukidnon produce arrives fresh and in optimal condition at its final destination.

“The new SITC service is designed to meet the growing demand for stopovers at the MCT, which will satisfy the needs of pineapple and banana transporters to export on time to China,” explained Aurelio García, executive director of the MCT.
The CPX7 service rotation covers the ports of Shanghai, Wenzhou, Manila (South), Cebu and Cagayan de Oro (MCT), calling at MCT every Monday. This regular schedule ensures that exporters can plan their shipments more efficiently, reducing waiting times and improving logistics coordination. The inclusion of MCT in the CPX7 route not only strengthens Mindanao’s export infrastructure, but also underlines the strategic importance of Cagayan de Oro as a key point in the global supply chain.
This new transportation solution represents a significant opportunity for farmers and exporters in Bukidnon.
The inaugural call of the CPX7 service in Cagayan de Oro was marked by the arrival of the 1,800 TEU SITC Haode. This event symbolizes a milestone in enhancing the region’s export capabilities, facilitating a continuous flow of fresh produce to international markets. SITC Haode’s capacity allows it to handle large volumes of cargo, ensuring that products such as pineapple and banana from Bukidnon arrive in China in optimal condition. This new shipping service not only benefits local exporters, but also boosts Mindanao’s economic growth and global competitiveness.
The new service underscores MCT’s pivotal role as a trade facilitator in the Southern Philippines, reflecting its commitment to enhancing supply and supporting the growth of Mindanao’s agricultural export sector.
