The Special Administrative Region of Macao (MGI) has been consolidated as a strategic bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, the spokesman for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday. The statement was made during a press conference after the second China-Portuguese strategic dialogue at the level of foreign ministers.
According to Guo, Macau, having Chinese and Portuguese as official languages, offers a unique platform to promote commercial ties between China and Lusophone countries. “The region has increasingly frequent and deepened exchanges with Portugal and other Portuguese -speaking countries,” he said.
The spokesman also stressed that, with the support of the central government, Macau will continue to reinforce his connectivity with the continental and with the world, boosting sino-illusion cooperation in areas such as commerce, tourism, finance and high technology.
