Manga creator Yama Wayama announced this Thursday that two of her best-known mangas, Captivated, by You (Muchū sa, Kimi ni) y Let’s Go Karaoke! (Karaoke Iko!) They will have an anime adaptation for television soon.

The announcement stated that both works will receive a television adaptation “at the same time.” Furthermore, Wayama had already hinted at the new anime last week on a website with a countdown.

Asami Nakatani (who has also directed other important productions such as Yohane the Parhelion -SUNSHINE in the MIRROR) will direct both animes at Doga Kobo and Yukiko Tsukahara (production coordinator at The Imaginary) will be the assistant director.

Yoshimi Narita (de Twilight Out of Focus, Dance Dance Dancer) will supervise the scripts for the series.

For her part, the character designer will be Mai Matsuura (known for her work in KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm, The Stories of Girls Who Couldn’t Be Magicians) will be the character designer, and Takurō Iga (Trillion Game, Oshi no Ko) will compose the music.

The success of Let’s Go Karaoke! y Captivated, by You

Wayama launched the manga Let’s Go Karaoke! as a dōjin publication in 2019, and was published in one volume by Kadokawa in September 2020. The manga was highly successful, placing third at the 14th Manga Taisho Awards in 2021. The story even inspired a live-action film that was released in 2021. premiered in January after a delay from 2023.

On the other hand, high school manga Captivated, by You debuted as a dōjin publication in February 2019. The compiled volume is a compilation of the manga strips boys-love “Ushiro no Nikaidō” by Wayama, with a 30-page original sequel story.
