Pu Yiliu’s startup LyncMed uses technology to connect hospitals with medical equipment suppliers, helping to get vital equipment where it’s needed faster

Pu Yiliu is one of 20 recipients of the Gen.T X Credit Suisse Social Impact Awards. The awards recognise Gen.T honourees who have made significant contributions to Asian society in the fields of social impact, sustainability or innovation.

The coronavirus pandemic has exposed the dangerous gaps that exist in the medical industry procurement chain. In particular, the lack of ventilators at the outset of the Covid-19 outbreak is thought to have cost thousands of lives worldwide.

It’s crises such as the one we’re facing down right now that Pu Yiliu’s med-tech company, LyncMed, was built for.

LyncMed connects medical equipment buyers and sellers globally, shortening the procurement chain and supplying medical devices around the world, wherever they are most needed

The Chinese startup’s B2B trading platform is designed to make the market more efficient, as well as enabling access to more suppliers. “Most global supply chains start in China,” says Pu. “But still, only a small fraction of Chinese medical companies reach the global market.

“LyncMed’s goal is to connect medical equipment buyers and sellers globally, bringing quality Chinese brands to the international market.”

The company uses cutting-edge technology to solve issues that have faced the industry for decades.  “We developed our own system that directly connects vendors with sales leads. With traditional methods, it takes months for medical equipment to arrive where it’s needed. With our network, we can shorten the lead time from months to days, and lower the cost to hospitals and clinics.” says Pu.

We spoke to Pu just before the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, but in the video interview with Gen.T she presciently described the circumstance where LyncMed can best be of service to humanity.

“This has a huge impact, as it makes the whole process more efficient. We can serve not only regular demand, but be ready for emergency scenarios.”
