With the advancement of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between China and Latin America and the Caribbean, transoceanic exchanges between the two sides will be more convenient and countries in the region will find more opportunities and greater development in the Chinese market.
According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, every year, companies from Latin America and the Caribbean cross the ocean to participate in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) with their special products, and not just as participants and witnesses, but also as beneficiaries.
Mao made the remarks during a regular press conference on Wednesday regarding the growing participation of Latin American products at the 7th China International Import Expo. According to the media report, cherries grown in the Andean region of Chile, as well as other famous products from Latin America, such as blueberries from Peru, which are popular in Chinese supermarkets, were taken to China and displayed during the 7th CIIE.
“Through platforms such as CIIE, products such as Honduran white shrimp and Nicaraguan honey have been recognized in China,” said the spokeswoman. Mao emphasized that the Chilean Fruit Association has signed cooperation agreements with various e-commerce platforms in China and also opened the “Xiamen-São Paulo” cross-border e-commerce route to allow more Latin American products to enter the “shopping cart” of Chinese consumers.
