Legoland Shanghai Resort, Lego’s largest theme park in the world, will be officially inaugurated on July 5, announced on Wednesday (8) the company Merlin Entertainments. Located in the Jinshan district of Shanghai, the resort occupies an area of 318,000 square meters and is mainly focused on children from 2 to 12 years old and their families.

The new complex will feature more than 75 interactive toys, shows and attractions spread across eight immersive thematic areas, as well as thousands of models built with Lego pieces. The space will also function as a hotel destination, reinforcing the proposal for full experience for visitors from inside and outside China.

“Announcing the opening date is an important milestone for Legoland Shanghai Resort,” said John Jakobsen, Merlin’s director of strategic development. According to him, the park “will give life to the possibilities of Lego on an epic scale.”

The inauguration reinforces the role of Shanghai as a strategic destination for international investors in the entertainment sector. The success of Shanghai Disney Resort and Universal Beijing Resort paved the way for the arrival of new international themed parks in the country.

Lego’s bet on Shanghai reflects the continuous growth of the family entertainment market in China, driven by the demand for personalized experiences and the expansion of domestic tourism.
