Japan police stopped a 54-year-old Satoshi Tanaka, suspected of drug addiction and violate about 50 passengers, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police of Tokyo confirmed on Friday. The authorities found three thousand videos and images of the taxi driver to assault women, inside the taxi or at the taxi driver’s house, after forcing them to take pills to sleep, under the pretext that they were good for health.

According to the spokesman, the case was discovered after the detainee allegedly given pills to sleep in July to a 20-year-old woman who entered the taxi after drinking with friends. Later, the man took her home, filming the abuse with the mobile phone, as well as stealing the money the victim had. Authorities are investigating dozens of similar cases after finding thousands of images and videos on the man’s mobile phone. When asked, Tanaka said she “didn’t remember” what happened. Some of the images on the mobile phone date from 2008, according to reports from local media.

The taxi driver had already been arrested in October on suspicion of drugging another woman and stealing about 40,000 yen (247 euros), but was released, before being detained again in December, by another alleged aggression.
