North American semiconductor giant Intel announced on Monday the expansion of its packaging and testing unit in southwest China, aiming to increase the efficiency of the local supply chain and improve service to Chinese customers.
With an investment of US$300 million, the company will expand the capacity of its base in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, to meet the growing demand for customized encapsulation solutions. Additionally, Intel will establish a new customer solutions center to optimize the supply chain and enhance support for the Chinese market.
China’s continued pursuit of high-quality development and greater economic openness provides a solid foundation and drives Intel’s long-term strategy in the country. According to Wang Rui, senior vice president and president of Intel China, the company remains committed to its local operations and serving Chinese customers.
Opened in 2003, the Chengdu facility is one of Intel’s main global packaging and testing centers. In a challenging global economic recovery scenario, strengthening the resilience and stability of industrial and supply chains is essential to fuel growth.
