His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, congratulated Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on his new appointment as Minister of External Affairs of India.
This came as the UAE Senior Diplomat hosted Dr S. Jaishankar for a working dinner in Abu Dhabi, where they discussed strengthening the long-standing ties of friendship between the two countries. They reviewed the progress made in various areas of bilateral cooperation within the framework of the comprehensive strategic and economic partnership between the UAE and the Republic of India.
HH Sheikh Abdullah and Dr Jaishankar explored the efforts of the two countries to strengthen joint cooperation in all sectors including economic, trade, investment, education, culture, health, food security, renewable energy and climate change.

Sheikh Abdullah stressed that the UAE and India share a strong and strategic partnership, marked by the growing momentum of bilateral cooperation. This collaboration, he added, aims to achieve comprehensive development and ensure sustainable economic prosperity for both nations and their citizens.
“In 2017, the relationship between the two countries was elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership. This significant development further deepened and strengthened the already strong ties based on a solid foundation of mutual understanding, trust, respect and shared interests,” Sheikh Abdullah noted.
They reviewed the progress made in various areas of bilateral cooperation within the framework of the comprehensive strategic and economic partnership between the UAE and the Republic of India.
“The UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), launched in May 2022, has significantly boosted economic and trade cooperation in a manner that supports the national development goals of both countries,” he added.
In a related context, HH Sheikh Abdullah and Dr Jaishankar explored areas of collaboration within international organisations, while exchanging views on current regional and international developments, including the situation in the Middle East.
