Here’s What Happens When Two Generation T Listers Collaborate: Neelofa x FashionValet
In a move that is a long time coming, FashionValet launched a collaboration collection with local fashion icon Neelofa. The announcement of the collection sent fashion enthusiasts into a frenzy as they rushed to acquire a piece of fashion created by two of Malaysia’s most successful modern Muslim women.
In 2012, winner of a teen beauty contest Neelofa was finding her footing in the entertainment scene. At the same time, law student Vivy and her-then boyfriend Fadza Anuar (another Gen.T Lister) were still struggling together to get FashionValet off the ground.
The scrappy fashion startup eventually enlisted Neelofa to be their first celebrity ambassador, a partnership that marked the start of a beautiful friendship.
Since then, the business mogul and e-commerce platform kept in touch and FashionValet even carries her popular scarf brand, Naelofar Hijab.
Without a doubt, Neelofa and Vivy share many similarities in their career trajectory: both run multimillion dollar companies, accumulated devoted followers in their social media and are stars of their own TV shows in Astro.
Above all, in their success, Vivy and Neelofa have proven that it is possible for two women entrepreneurs to be supportive of each other’s success. They are both advocates against cyberbullying and they have consistently used their media platforms to promote female empowerment.
Hence, the Neelofa x FashionValet collection was a natural union between the two.
“Neelofa and I have been wanting to collaborate on a collection for the longest time and I’m so glad it’s been put into fruition. Finally! We had a lot of fun in the design process and worked very closely together on that so as deliver to the mass in terms of her style. We hope her fans and our customers love it,” commented Vivy.
Neelofa x FashionValet comprises of 11 designs in total of tops and bottoms. It represents Neelofa’s style in many ways–embellishments, modest, classy, sophisticated and versatile. At the same time, it is also created to be easily mixed and matched for the modern woman on the go.
Design-wise, asymmetrical details and stripes dominate the designs of the pieces. There are wide-legged pants with ruffles, wrap tops with embellishments and blouses with side draping. With an overall nautical theme, its colour scheme ranges from dark hues to softer pastels–suitable for both the bold and demure. All tops are made to be long-sleeved so as to suit the modern Muslim women.
The collection is available at FashionValet’s physical stores in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Bangsar Village II, as well as on fashionvalet.com.
