Geely Holding Group and Renault announced the expansion of their strategic cooperation for the production and marketing of electric and hybrid vehicles in Latin America. As part of the agreement, Geely will become a minority shareholder of Renault do Brasil, obtaining access to local production, sales and services infrastructure. The partnership still depends on the approval of the regulatory bodies.

With the agreement, the Ayrton Senna complex in Paraná will manufacture new models of the two brands, as well as the vehicles already produced by Renault. In the sales sector, Renault do Brasil will be the official distributor of Geely’s low and zero emission vehicles in the country, allowing the Chinese automaker to accelerate its expansion in the largest automotive market in South America.

Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo highlighted the partnership as a strategic step, highlighting the success of collaboration between companies in previous projects, such as Joint Venture in South Korea. I have read Shufu, president of Geely Holding, said collaboration reinforces the company’s commitment to the sustainable transformation of the automotive industry.
