Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn has confirmed an investment of 600 million yuan (approximately R$514.5 million) in Foxconn New Energy Battery with the aim of expanding its production of new energy batteries. The contribution will be made through the subsidiary HongFuJin Precision Electronics and initially injected into the Foxconn Innovation Industry Development Group, responsible for directing the funds to the project in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province.

The investment will be implemented in phases, starting with an initial injection of 350 million yuan. The company also plans to build a new commercial headquarters in the city, which will house the Foxconn Innovation Industry Development Group. The project will have a construction area of around 70,000 square meters in its first phase, with a budget of 1 billion yuan.

This initiative is part of Foxconn’s strategy to diversify its operations and advance in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. In April 2023, the company opened a new commercial headquarters in Zhengzhou and, earlier this year, created a unit focused on the production of components for EVs, as well as vehicle sales and battery recycling.

In line with this move, Foxconn signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Henan government in July 2024, with the aim of accelerating projects in the new energy vehicle, energy storage battery, digital health and robotics industries. Investment in Zhengzhou is an important stage in this expansion into new technological and sustainable sectors.
