The virtual event by Calm Collective Asia will feature speakers discussing workplace wellness, stress management, building mental resilience and the growing popularity of therapy as a treatment

Come November 12 and 13, social enterprise Calm Collective Asia will hold its inaugural CalmCon virtual festival to discuss the rising issues around mental wellness.

Calm Collective Asia was started by Gen.T honouree Sabrina Ooi and her co-founder Alyssa Reinoso during Singapore’s Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, in hope of providing relatable mental health content with the help of practitioners within the sector. It does this through talks and workshops, with more than 40 speakers, from musicians to business leaders, participating so far.

The virtual festival will feature keynotes, panels and workshops fronted by entrepreneurs, executives, politicians and industry experts.

Three broad themes will define its discussion topics: on the first day of the event, speakers such as Candice Schaefer, global head of employee wellness at Twitter, will explore different conversations about workplace wellness, such as managing stress and helping employees feel psychologically safe at work.

On the second day, speakers are divided into two content tracks: Calm and Thrive. Under Calm, topics include how to navigate mental health conditions and seek treatment, while under Thrive, they will focus on issues such as coping with change and redefining failure. Speakers on this day include singer-songwriter Benjamin Kheng, Navin Amasuriya of The Contentment Foundation and Singaporean economist and politician Jamus Lim.
