Ingredients

  • 500 g cornstarch (cornstarch)

  • 1 can of condensed milk

  • 200 g butter or margarine (at room temperature)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)

  • 1 pinch of salt

Preparation mode

  • In a large bowl, add the cornstarch, butter (or margarine) and condensed milk.
  • Mix with your hands until you form a homogeneous dough. The dough should be soft and easy to shape. If necessary, add a little more cornstarch to get the right consistency.
  • Add the vanilla essence and a pinch of salt, mixing well to incorporate all the ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • With the dough ready, form small balls (about 2 cm in diameter) and place them on a greased baking tray or lined with baking paper.
  • Using a fork, lightly press each ball to give it the traditional shape of a cornstarch cookie, creating small marks on the surface.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cookies begin to lightly brown on the edges. Be careful not to overcook them, as they may become tough.
  • Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet before transferring them to a container.
  • Once cooled completely, serve the cornstarch cookies with coffee, tea or as a light dessert after a meal.
