Ingredients

  • 2 cups of sugar

  • 1 ¾ cups of wheat flour

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 ½ teaspoons of baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup of milk

  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 cup boiling water

Preparation mode

  • Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 22 cm (9 inch) round pans or one large rectangular pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Beat at medium speed with a mixer for about 2 minutes. The dough will be very thick.
  • Mix the boiling water into the dough. It will be very liquid, but that’s how it is.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out and cool completely on a wire rack.
