The 20th Chinese medical team of the Mediterranean Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine (MRCTCM) promoted, on Tuesday (6), a free health event for residents of the city of Swieqi, east of Malta. The action included a lecture, practice of traditional exercises and free clinical care.
The activity began with the presentation of Baduanjin, a traditional Chinese practice composed of eight soft and aerobic movements, conducted by the doctor Tang Limei. After the demonstration, participants were enthusiastically involved in practice, reporting immediate benefits.
Following, the medical team offered services such as pressure and blood glucose measurement, individualized consultations and distribution of medical supplies. “It was very interesting. Baduanjin is great for both elderly and young people. I want to continue practicing at home,” said Christine Cuschieri, 72. Marie Louise, 79, said she would like to see more initiatives like this.
Since its inception in 1994, the result of cooperation between the governments of China and Malta, MRCTCM has received 20 medical teams, totaling more than 100 professionals. In all, about 250,000 maltese have already been attended to traditional Chinese medicine treatments such as acupuncture, therapeutic massages and herbal medicine.
For participants, the event was not only an opportunity for health care, but also to contact a millennial culture. “It was a new experience. I loved the exercises and would like other locations to promote similar events,” said 73 -year -old Josette Mifsud.
