With the presence of Chinese and Brazilian authorities and businesspeople, the contract was signed for the construction of the Intercidades Train, the fastest and most modern in Brazil, which is expected to come into operation in 2031 and will involve investments of around R$14 billion.
The project will connect São Paulo and Campinas in around 1 hour, in a train with capacity for 860 seated passengers, operating at intervals of up to 15 minutes during peak hours.
The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, said that the project will inject new vitality into São Paulo’s economic development and that the signing is of great importance to improve transport capacity in the state and facilitate the green transport transition and development sustainable.
Yu Peng, consul general of the People’s Republic of China in São Paulo said that he hopes that the cooperation between the CRRC Group and Brazilian partners in this project can demonstrate the excellent strength and quality of Chinese companies and transform the project into a historic demonstration milestone cooperation between the State of São Paulo and China.
