China’s foreign trade hit a new record high in the first half of this year, injecting additional impetus into the economic recovery, official data showed Friday.
Merchandise trade volume grew 6 percent year-on-year to reach 21 trillion yuan (about 3 trillion U.S. dollars) in the January-June period, with exports rising 7 percent and imports rising 5 percent, according to the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
Looking at the figures, analysts believe that the positive trend in foreign trade has been further solidified. In the second quarter, imports and exports in total increased by 7% year-on-year, which was notably higher than the 5% increase in the first quarter of this year and the 2% increase in the fourth quarter of last year.
