China’s independently developed AS700 manned civil airship completed its first trans-provincial transfer flight on Wednesday, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) said.
The airship covered about 1,000 kilometers during the trans-provincial flight, achieving the longest flight range and endurance for a Chinese manned airship, said AVIC, the country’s top aircraft manufacturer.
The AS700 took off early Tuesday from an airport in Jingmen, central China’s Hubei Province. It flew over neighboring Hunan Province with two stops at local airports and arrived safely in Guilin, south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at noon Wednesday, according to AVIC.
