China is seeking to improve the quality of education in private schools by encouraging experienced retired teachers to support teaching and research, especially in higher education institutions, according to a new statement issued by the Ministry of Education.
According to the text, teachers are encouraged to help work in schools in western regions of China and in regions with ethnic minority groups. Approximately 20 thousand teachers must be selected every year after the launch of the campaign.
At the same time, schools are expected to develop mentoring systems for retired teachers to share their knowledge and experiences with their young colleagues.
