China welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas reached on January 15 and expressed hope that it will evolve into a comprehensive and permanent truce. “China sincerely hopes that all parties will seize the ceasefire as an opportunity to reduce regional tensions,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday.
Since the start of the conflict, China has called for an immediate ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, as well as actively working to protect civilians and facilitate humanitarian aid. The country reaffirmed its support for the implementation of the agreement and commitment to continue providing assistance to Gaza, as well as helping with post-war reconstruction.
Guo stressed that China will continue to collaborate with the international community to seek peace and stability in the Middle East, promoting diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions and protect civilians.
