China will continue to promote global connectivity as a driver for the development of the Global South, advocating broad consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. The statement was made this Wednesday by Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press conference in Beijing.
Connectivity, Guo highlighted, is one of the core areas of Belt and Road Initiativeproposed by China to meet the aspirations of the Global South for greater development and integration.
Last week, the Chinese government announced 15 strategic measures to boost the growth of its western region, with a focus on building an international logistics corridor that connects the country to the rest of the world by land and sea.
According to Guo, these actions aim to expand the space for sustainable and mutually beneficial development, ensuring greater resilience and high standards of openness. China seeks to share with the world the opportunities generated by its high-quality economic growth, consolidating itself as a key player in global connectivity.
