The Cataract Blindness Eradication Project supported by China’s GX Foundation for Cambodia’s southeastern Prey Veng province concluded on Monday, helping restore vision to 3,800 patients, officials said.

Cambodian Vice Prime Minister Hun Many and Leung Chun-ying, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and chairman of the GX Foundation, attended the project completion ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Many praised the Cambodia-China cooperation in providing free eye examinations, treatment and surgery for all patients in Prey Veng province since December 2022. “This project is invaluable to the people of Prey Veng province,” he said, highlighting the over 7,600 eye examinations carried out under the initiative.
