China on Sunday unveiled an ambitious blueprint to build a robust education system by 2035, aiming to support its national modernization and revitalization. The plan, aimed at transforming the country into a global leader in education, was issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council.
The educational system will be based on socialism with Chinese characteristics and will have as pillars ideological leadership, talent competitiveness, scientific and technological advances, social protection, community synergy and greater international influence, as described in the document.
The aspiration to transform China into a leading country in education dates back to modern times. In 2022, the CCP set the goal of achieving this goal by 2035, highlighting education as a key piece for national and global development.
