China on Monday delivered a batch of independently developed large civilian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Three units of the HY100 model, produced by Ursa Aeronautical, were delivered to customers for application in agricultural and forestry protection, in addition to air logistics transport.

The HY100, a large fixed-wing drone, has a maximum takeoff weight of 5.25 tons and a payload capacity of 1.9 tons. It offers an operational range of up to 1,800 kilometers and can fly for 10 hours, maintaining stability at altitudes of 4,000 meters. According to Yu Yang, general manager of Ursa Aeronautical, the drone, with a wingspan of more than 18 meters, can cover up to 16,000 hectares in a single day when spraying pesticides.

Large UAVs, defined as aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight above 150 kg, stand out for their payload capacity, range and flexibility at flight altitudes. Its applications include environmental protection, supply delivery, emergency rescues and communications relay, complementing smaller aircraft in low-altitude operations.
