China has announced that the Lunar Chang’e-8 mission, scheduled to be launched around 2029, will feature helpful charges from 11 countries and regions, as well as an international organization, marking another step in the advancement of global space cooperation. The announcement was made during the opening of the 2025 Space Day of China, celebrated on Thursday.
The probe will explore the Leibnitz-Beta Plateau, near the South Lunar Pole, and will act together with the previous mission Chang’e-7. Together, they will conduct scientific and use of local resources, with the objective of preparing land for the future Lunar International Research Station.
Among the selected projects are a multifunctional robot of Hong Kong, Rovers Lunares developed by Pakistan and Turkey, South Africa and Peru radio instruments, as well as scientific equipment from Italy, Russia, Thailand, Iran, Egypt and Bahrein.
According to Shan Zhongde, head of China’s National Space Administration (CNSA), the country will continue to expand collaboration with international partners, focusing on scientific innovations and benefits for all humanity. CNSA has received 41 mission cooperation proposals and selected 10 projects to occupy the 200 pounds made available to international businesses.
