After years of professional experience, Brazilian Mariane Narete returned to the classroom, now in the city of Sanya, province of Hainan, southern China. A student of the first international MBA program at the China Agricultural University (CAU), she studies agricultural management focused on trade and international cooperation. “I want to strengthen partnerships between Chinese and Brazilian companies to boost the trade of our products,” he said.

In addition to classes, Mariane studies Chinese, visits agricultural companies and explores the local culture. His classmate, also Brazilian Carlos Eduardo de Brito Santos, highlights the global mindset and the international network as the main gains of the experience. The inaugural class of the MBA brings together 15 students from eight countries and aims to train professionals prepared to work on the 21st century sea silk route.

The deputy chief of the Sanya da Cau Institute, Zhang Ying, said that Brazilian students are seen as ambassadors of friendship between the two countries and should contribute to deepen economic, commercial and cultural cooperation. Student Tatiane Martins Rosa also bets on this potential: “I hope to work on joint projects that benefit both China and Brazil”.
