Asset management giant Blackrock expanded the scope of digital assets to meet the increasing demand from individual and corporate investors, and appointed Anchorage Digital as a second crypto storage institution in addition to Coinbase.
So far, Coinbase was the only storage organization of Blackrock’s most important crypto exchange investment products (ETPs), such as Blackrock’s $ 48 billion of Ishares Bitcoin Trust Etf (IBIT) and $ 2.1 billion Ishares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA). The addition of Anchorage Digital, a federal -authorized crypto bank, supported by large investors such as KKR, GIC, Andreessen Horowitz and Goldman Sachs, means a strategic move to diversify and strengthen Blackrock’s infrastructure.
“As the demand for digital assets increases and our footprint in the ecosystem grows, we continue to expand our service provider network by focusing on the highest quality corporate providers,” said Robert Mitchnick, President of Blackrock Digital Assets, and added: “After a comprehensive assessment, Anchorage Digital clearly meets these standards.”
Anchorage last had a value of over $ 3 billion and began to attract attention among corporate investors. According to Nathan McCauley, its founding partner and CEO, the company experienced a significant growth in trade business this year. McCauley said, “We serve many large companies that buy Bitcoin,” he said: “Many large institutions are buying significant amounts of Bitcoin.”
McCauley also said that the next stage for crypto ETPs may include the addition of features such as crypto assets and stinging, which allows investors to return from supported assets.
According to Bloomberg data, despite the market fluctuation in 2025, Blackrock’s IBIT continued to lead the industry as the largest Bitcoin ETF and attracted more than 2.6 billion dollars since the beginning of the year. Ethereum equivalent ETHA provided more than $ 500 million inputs in the same period.
