Ingredients

  • 1 whole fish (such as tilapia, sea bass, trout), cleaned and scaled

  • 2 lemons

  • 3 cloves of minced garlic

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper to taste

  • Fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, rosemary) or dried to taste

  • Lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Preparation mode

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Wash the fish thoroughly and dry it with paper towels. Make diagonal cuts in the skin on both sides to allow the seasoning to penetrate.
  • Season the fish with salt, black pepper, minced garlic and the juice of 1 lemon. Rub the seasoning well on all sides of the fish, including the inside.
  • Place some fresh (or dried) herbs inside the cavity of the fish and rub some on the sides as well. This will give the fish a delicious aroma and flavor.
  • In a baking dish, place a little olive oil on the bottom to prevent the fish from sticking. Place the fish in the baking dish and drizzle a little more olive oil on top. Cut the other lemon into slices and place a few slices on top of the fish.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and can be easily flaked with a fork. Cooking time may vary depending on the size and type of fish, so check periodically.
  • Remove the fish from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with a few more lemon slices and fresh herbs. Serve hot.
