The Government of South Korea has launched a tourism campaign called “Autumn in Korea”, which will offer significant discounts and benefits to a total of 580,000 tourists.

This initiative will remain in operation during the last quarter of the year. While the goal is to attract more foreign visitors, another important reason is that authorities are trying to stimulate domestic demand for tourism in a context of post-pandemic recovery.

The announcement was made on September 25 by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Yu In Chon, during a national tourism strategy meeting held at the Seoul Government Complex.

Discounts on transportation and accommodation

The campaign will offer significant discounts in certain key areas of tourism. Among the most attractive offers is a 50% discount on five train travel routes. This is one of the most used forms of transportation to travel between the different regions of South Korea.

Additionally, tourists will have access to a 10,000 won (approximately US$7.5) discount on the Naeilo Pass, a train ticket that allows visitors to take unlimited rides on selected trains for a specified period.

Accommodation will also be part of the incentive plan, with the distribution of 500,000 discount vouchers for stays in non-metropolitan cities. This measure is directly related to the government’s efforts to decentralize tourism and promote the discovery of lesser-known regions of the country.

The offers will be applied mainly in facilities certified for their quality, guaranteeing tourists a comfortable and safe experience. In addition, reduced rates will be offered on the 100 tourism products that are part of the “Autumn in Korea” campaign, with discounts of up to 20%.

Promoting internal tourism

The campaign is not only aimed at international tourists, but also at residents in South Korea, with the aim of promoting domestic tourism. In this sense, the South Korean Government has worked together with 17 municipal and provincial governments, as well as various related ministries, to organize a program of activities, events and festivals that invite people to explore different regions of the country.

This initiative seeks to capitalize on the tourism boom in the country, a sector that has been damaged after the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic and is currently showing constant recovery.

The campaign, with its wide variety of offers and events, aims to revitalize the tourism economy and energize related industries, such as hospitality and local commerce.

A diverse and attractive cultural offer

One of the most positive aspects of the “Autumn in Korea” campaign is the rich cultural and entertainment offering that has been programmed throughout the country. For the first time, local governments will collaborate to offer integrated events at the national level. In this way, a joint tourism brand has been generated and tours that connect various regions have been promoted.

Among the featured activities is the “Korea Stage Festa”, which will feature a series of theater, dance and classical music performances in different parts of the country.

Regional festivals such as “Shiwol Festival” in Busan, “G-Festa” in Gwangju and “Fantasia Daegu Festa” in Daegu will also be held, offering tourists a wide range of cultural and entertainment activities to enjoy during their stay. .

The stamp tour: a novelty to encourage tourism

To generate more motivation among people, a traveling stamp tour event has been organized. This will take place between October 1 and December 10.

Tourists will be able to participate in this activity by collecting stamps from specific festivals in different regions of the country. Those who manage to collect all the stamps will be rewarded with gifts.

“Autumn in Korea” seeks to revitalize tourism

The “Autumn in Korea” campaign comes at a crucial time for the South Korean tourism industry, which is trying to fully recover from the devastating effects of the pandemic.

In addition to generating income, the initiative aims to position the country as a preferred destination in the Asian region and the world, offering tourists unforgettable experiences in the middle of the autumn season, one of the most picturesque in the country.
