More than 3.05 million tickets were sold for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, with revenue exceeding 610 million yuan (US$83.5 million), organizers said on Saturday.
“We are witnessing skyrocketing ticket sales where the total number of tickets sold is more than 3.05 million, generating more than 610 million yuan in ticket sales,” said Hangzhou Asian Games chief spokesperson Mao Genhong , at a press conference on Saturday.
The Asian Games in Hangzhou, which ended on Sunday, coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday and China’s National Day, attracting widespread public attention.
“The Asian Games in Hangzhou are boosting the economy in three aspects: substantial tourism growth in Hangzhou, increased sports consumption across the country and boosting the development of the sports industry,” said Yang Xuedong, director of the Sports Economics Department of Hangzhou.
