Antarte exposes excellence from the joinery of Portugal at the Osaka World Expo – Observer

A AntarrtePortuguese brand of furniture, integrates another world size project, by materializing dozens of pieces drawn by Kengo Kuma for Osaka World Expo – One of the largest global events dedicated to innovation, culture and sustainable development – that started on April 13th.

The Japanese architect designed the Portugal Pavilion And it had the Portuguese brand as a partner to manufacture more than forty pieces of furniture for the pavilion of our country.

Among the various types of pieces that can be seen in the space that represents Portugal, there are banks, high banks and tables for the restaurant and cafeteria, as well as sofas and mesa where the book of honor will be placed in the Vip Lounge. The materials were chosen taking into account sustainability, as is the case with National Freixo, cotton and linen wood for the coating of sofas, or national cork cluster, manually turned. Production techniques respect the ancestral knowledge of the Portuguese woodwork.

Antarte has materialized the table where the Portuguese Pavilion Honor Book is placed at Expo 2025 Osaka.

Highlight for the table where the Portuguese Pavilion Honor Book will be placed – a piece consisting of 177 pieces of National Freixo Wood, with different diameters and lengths, all of them manually made over 200 hours of manual work.

Copies of these pieces can be seen in the Antart Museumthe only museum in Europe, totally dedicated to the history of woodworking, located in the Antarte Centercompany industrial hub in Folding – Walls.
