Alibaba announced on Monday an investment of over 380 billion yuans (US $ 53 billion) in building cloud hardware infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) over the next three years. This contribution surpasses the entire spending of the company in these sectors in the last decade and becomes the largest ever done by a Chinese private company in this segment.

Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu stressed that the demand for AI has grown beyond predictions, demonstrating the enormous potential of China’s technology sector. The company intends to accelerate infrastructure development to meet this growth and reinforce its leadership position. In the last quarter, the group’s revenue increased by 8%, reaching 280.15 billion yuans, driven by the performance of Alibaba Cloud, whose revenue grew 13% in the period.

The Alibaba Cloud Division recorded a three -digit increase in AI -related product revenue by the sixth consecutive quarter. With the launch of four generations of its QWEN base model, Alibaba reinforces its commitment to expand AI applications. Wu emphasized that the company’s strategy will continue to focus on e -commerce, cloud and AI computing, sectors that will boost its sustainable growth in the age of artificial intelligence.
