Authorities in the southern province of Binh Duong and the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) held an opening ceremony on September 27 for an international multimodal train transporting goods from Song Than station to China.
The train consists of 19 cars carrying about 500 tons of tapioca starch. It departed from Song Than Station and is scheduled to arrive in Putian, Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China, on October 5.
It is the first time that the station participates in local export and import activities.
In his speech, Nguyen Tran Hieu, Director of the Customs Department of Binh Duong province, stated that Binh Duong has reached third place in the country in terms of exports-imports, of which nearly 40% have been made with China, mostly by river and partly by road.
Last year, Song Than station handled more than 1.6 million tons of goods, mostly electronic equipment, automobiles, food, raw materials for production and manufactured products for the industrial zones of Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh.

Chairman of the VNR Board of Members Dang Sy Manh said that during the period 2025-2030 the Song Than station is expected to handle 3.5 million tons per year, becoming a major cargo hub in the system. railway of Vietnam.
