The Astronauts of the Shenzhou-19 mission, Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze, sent their New Year greetings directly from the Tiangong space station. In a video released by China’s manned space agency (CMSA), the trio, wearing dress decorated with traditional standards, displayed paper cutouts with the Chinese character “Fu”, which symbolizes good luck. The commemorative dinner included typical dishes like jiaozi (Chinese ravioli), smoked fish and traditional desserts.
During the nearly three months at the station, astronauts conducted scientific experiments and two space walks, including the installation of space debris protection devices. By the end of the six -month mission, they will perform 86 experiments in areas such as materials science, space medicine and innovative technologies.
This is the third spring party celebrated at Tiangong station since its conclusion in 2022. For Cai, which has participated in previous missions, this is its first celebration in space. Song and Wang, the first astronauts born after the 1990s to join Tiangong, highlighted the emotion of experiencing this unique experience and wished luck and prosperity to the Chinese people.
With the advancement of the space program, China not only expands its scientific impact but also demonstrates the cultural symbolism of its achievements in space. The celebration of the Spring Festival in Tiangong reflects the spirit of innovation and unity that connects space with terrestrial traditions.
