Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a Chinese New Year card on Monday in response to friends of the state of Iowa in the United States, emphasizing that China and the US shall share wide common interests and a vast potential for cooperation. Xi pointed out that the two countries can reach mutual prosperity and benefit the world as partners and friends.
Xi recalled his first visit to Iowa 40 years ago, and thanked for the warm reception that remains alive in his memory. The Chinese leader expressed the desire for both peoples to intensify cultural and tourist exchanges, creating new stories of friendship and strengthening bilateral relationships.

The Card sent to XI was signed by 58 residents of Iowa, including figures such as former US Embaixador in China Terry Branstad, former President of the Kenneth Quinnen Food Award and other community leaders. The group recalled Xi’s visit to Iowa in 1985 and thanked the initiative “50,000 in five years”, which promotes cultural exchanges among young Americans and Chinese.
Participants shared their experiences in China and expressed expectations of future visits, highlighting the positive impact of cultural exchanges on strengthening relations between the two countries.
