Over the weekend, the administration raised eyebrows with the surprise launch of the Trump memecoin, which was soon followed by a similar token associated with Melania Trump. The move sparked backlash even among Trump supporters, with Nic Carter of Castle Island Ventures calling the memecoin launches “absolutely implausible” and accusing the administration of “plunging to new depths of stupidity.”
