Beijing recorded 3.9 million inbound tourist trips in 2024, an increase of 187% from the previous year and equivalent to 89% of the total recorded in 2019, according to the Municipal Department of Culture and Tourism. Of this total, 729 thousand visits were made by residents of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, 10% above the 2019 level, while 3.2 million trips were made by foreigners, reaching 85% of the pre-pandemic period.

To boost tourism, the city improved transportation, accommodation, shopping and payments, in addition to offering experiences such as tours on the Central Axis, lantern festivals and cycling routes, which attracted visitors.

The CYTS International Travel agency has invested in Tai Chi classes, cooking and guided tours for foreigners, while attractions such as the Mutianyu Great Wall have modernized language and payment services, making Beijing even more accessible and attractive.
