Resettlement is progressing in an organized manner following the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Dingri County in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region on Tuesday morning.
As of 6 a.m. on Thursday, official data indicated that the tremor had affected around 61,500 people. To assist those impacted, they created 224 resettlement sitesrelocating 47,500 residents and ensuring their basic needs, as communicated in a press conference.
With local temperatures that can drop below -10°Cthe main focus has been the distribution of cold relief items. According to Hao Tao, deputy head of the regional emergency management department, 12,730 tentsinstalled 1,572 stovesdistributed 3,020 electric blankets and sent 104 fuel trucks to the affected area.
“The supply of relief materials is adequate, and residents’ basic needs, such as hot meals, drinking water and medical care, are being met,” Hao said.
