“I am pleased to announce the nomination of Paul Atkins to be the next Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission,” Trump wrote, adding: “Paul is a proven leader on common-sense regulation. He believes in the promise of strong, innovative capital markets that respond to investors’ needs and provide capital to make our economy the best in the world. “He also recognizes that digital assets and other innovations are crucial to making America greater than ever.”
As the CEO and Founder of Patomak Global Partners, Atkins has extensive experience in financial oversight and risk management. Atkins served as SEC Commissioner from 2002 to 2008, where he was a strong advocate for transparency and investor protection. Atkins, who has recently focused on digital assets, has served as Co-Chair of the Chamber of Digital Commerce’s Token Alliance since 2017 and continues his work to understand and advance the digital assets industry.
