China supported approximately 1.2 million families with members with disabilities in renovating their homes to be more accessible and facilitate their mobility, until the end of November this year, according to the China Federation of People with Disabilities.
The renovations equipped homes with assistive devices and smart security systems, improving mobility and ensuring safer bathrooms and kitchens. From 2021 to 2023, China helped nearly 1.2 million children with disabilities receive rehabilitation services. From January to October this year, 443 thousand children were assisted, covering almost everyone in need.
By the end of 2023, China had established 12,400 rehabilitation centers, employing 360,000 staff, significantly improving service quality through standardized training for rehabilitation professionals.
