Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called on BRICS countries to work towards high-quality development of greater BRICS cooperation.
In a speech at the 16th BRICS Summit, Xi said the group has decided to invite several nations to become partner countries. He hailed the decision as another important step forward in the course of the group’s development. Xi called on members to transform the multilateral mechanism into a main venue for solidarity and cooperation for the Global South and a vanguard force for global governance reform.
He called on them to build BRICS for peace and act as guardians of common security, urging countries to uphold the three principles of no expansion of the battlefield, no escalation of fighting and no provocation by any party, to work towards de-escalation of the crisis in Ukraine as soon as possible.
China will establish 10 learning centers in BRICS countries over the next five years to provide training opportunities for 1,000 educational managers, teachers and students, he said.
