The Japanese publisher TO Books announced this Wednesday that the well-known light novel series A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation (in Japanese, Odayaka Kizoku no Kyūka no Susume), written by Misaki, will be adapted into a television anime.
An adventure in another world
The story closely follows the protagonist, named Lizel. When the young man finds himself in a city that has strange similarities to his own, but clearly is not, he quickly accepts the improbable truth: he is in a completely different world.
Still, the laid-back Lizel is not the type to panic quickly. That is why, as soon as he understands his situation, he sets out to learn more about this unknown and mysterious place. To help him on his adventure, he hires an experienced adventurer named Gil, who will be his tour guide and protector during the development of the events.
Until she can find a way to return home, Lizel decides that this is the perfect opportunity to explore a new way of life as an adventurer, joining a guild. After all, you’re sure to come home eventually… so in the meantime, why not enjoy a vacation in another world?
From a web novel to success on television
Misaki launched the web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in January 2014. As time passed and its popularity grew, TO Books began publishing the light novels with illustrations by Sando, in June 2018. In fact, Volume 19 is scheduled to be released this October 15.
Momochi launched the manga adaptation of Misaki’s novels in December 2018 in Comic Corona from TO Books. Manga credits include 8KEY for story composition and Sando for art for the novel’s original characters. TO Books published the tenth compiled volume of the manga on April 15.
To date, the series has more than 1.5 million copies in circulation.
