The China-Laos Railway, which launched its international passenger service on April 13, 2023, has carried passengers from more than 100 countries and regions, according to the Mohan border checkpoint in southwest China’s Yunnan Province .
As of Wednesday, more than a thousand international passenger trains have facilitated the smooth release of more than 280,000 inbound and outbound travelers from 100 countries and regions.
Driven by the 144-hour visa-free transit policy, international passenger trains on the China-Laos Railway have become the preferred choice of travelers from both countries due to its economical, convenient and comfortable travel options for tourism, study, business and cultural exchange.
As a historic high-quality Belt and Road cooperation project, the 1,000-kilometer China-Laos Railway connects Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, with the Lao capital Vientiane.
